  • Service (delivery) of court documents to the other party or parties in your case is required for most documents you submit for the court's consideration.

  • Service of court documents must be completed by an adult who is not a party to the case. You cannot serve paperwork in your own case. Service must be completed by an adult other than yourself.

  • Service by mail is generally not accepted for service of a petition and summons, a request for a restraining order, or a request for emergency orders.
